Integrating CTE and Adult Education to Support Adult Learner Success

In this Advance CTE member-only session, Dr. Vera Brown, Director of Career Technical Education at the Kansas Board of Regents, and Hector Martinez, Kansas Director of Adult Education will highlight how the state is connecting the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act (Perkins V) and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) to build more coordinated systems, support learner empowerment and belonging, and expand access to seamless transitions across education and workforce pathways. Participants will engage in small group discussions to reflect on their own state context and identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration. This session is designed for state CTE leaders and staff with a foundational understanding of adult education and workforce systems who are looking to deepen cross-system alignment across secondary, postsecondary, and workforce spaces.
